Week in the Life – Monday

7:24 am | Since being pregnant, I’ve been sleeping in a little later. Throughout the week, Kevin typically gets up to let the dogs out and then they come snuggle back in bed with me until my alarm goes off (or let’s be honest – a little after my alarm). It’s one of my favorite parts of the day. I’ve always been a hop out of bed person, but pregnancy has really opened my eyes to the perks of the snooze button.
8:02 am | I started using daily contacts this year and it’s been a game changer. I had the bad habit of sleeping in my monthlys before (don’t judge) so getting to put in fresh contacts daily really is truly a luxury – and so much better for my eyes.
8:20 am | Today I let the dogs out before I headed off to work. Of course, they got their paws all muddy thanks to the recent rain which means that they also got foot baths when we came in from outside. Thankfully they know what to do when I tell them to “get in the bath” so it only takes us about 5 minutes.
5:40 pm | On my way in from work, I stopped to check on my peonies. Every year, I anticipate the blooms and never have I been disappointed. We’re getting close.
6:01 pm | We recently got the dresser all set up for the nursery. I am beyond excited about how it is all coming together and am super thankful to Kevin for taking some time to put it together.
6:30 pm | Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about slowing down and what it looks like to experience things at a speed that they were meant to be enjoyed – not rushing through, but also not going so slow that you’re wasting time. I think it’s a fine line. I spent some time hanging outside, enjoying the 60 degree weather and all the plants that are currently in bloom. There is so much gratitude for this day and this project that’s allowing me to spend time looking at my life in a way that will certainly be different in a few months.
As a side note, I’ve been doing this same project off and on for a few years. In 2018, we did Week in the Life in May and while I would say my life probably hasn’t changed much since then – I would certainly be wrong. If you feel like taking a trip down memory lane with me, check out these posts:
I’ll be sharing photos like these every day this week with Ali Edwards’ Week in the Life project. It’s not too late to get started if you feel like following along. Thanks for stopping by!
Nursery Vision Board

Make Your Own Vision Board Using This Tutorial
Putting baby’s nursery together has felt like a very daunting task – I’m caught in the middle of wanting to be prepared while also realizing that I’ve never had a baby and have truly no idea what they could possibly want nor do I have any idea what I could possibly find helpful. We’re strong believers in keeping things minimal and flexible, so I’m trying to narrow things down to what we really need and then go from there. We’re not going with any specific theme, and just sticking with a neutral color palette that says boy without screaming it (hopefully).
This look changed at least 5 times, but choosing our priorities and then working from those really helped to narrow things down. Our priorities, more specifically, were 1) a black crib (for some reason, very hard to find multiple options at a reasonable price point) and 2) a rocker that also reclined, so we knew that everything else would have to be flexible around that. I’m such a visual person so it’s nice to see the room virtually come together and cut out the things that I just couldn’t make work.
The first (and only) thing we have bought for baby or his room at this point, is this rug from Boutique Rugs. We have been thankful to have already been gifted with the rocker/recliner and the dresser which leaves us with just a few more nursery necessities. We are working with a relatively small space and at this point, there are still some things leftover from the room’s previous life that we are still needing to donate or relocate. Thankfully, we’re not planning on painting the room other than a few touch ups here and there. I painted it Sherwin Williams’ color Gracious Greige a few years ago and am still 100% obsessed with it.
I’m really hoping that this nursery will be a calm and cozy spot for all of us to enjoy and that, over time, the items that we’ve chosen can easily be transitioned into whatever makes sense for us down the road.

Weekend Wrap Up

- I am twenty-three weeks pregnant and feeling good. I’m currently only fitting into the maternity clothes I’ve been buying over the past couple weeks and the bump is starting to really pop out.
- We are loving the Dispo App lately. Kevin and I are both working on cutting down our social media time, but both enjoy taking photos and documenting our daily lives. I love the way that this app filters photos and makes you wait for them to “develop”.
- I ate the best crostinis of my life at Pappo’s.
- We got our rocking chair delivered, thanks to my parents! Still a few items to move out of the room, but we’re making progress. More to come soon on the nursery!
- The weather was the absolute best and we definitely enjoyed lots of time outside.
Today I Read: Big Dreams Daily Joys

I’ve been following Elise Blaha Cripe online for the better part of the last 15 years, so when I heard about her book, I had to add it to my Wishlist. I finally got around to reading it, and I’m so glad I chose it for my first book of the year.
Throughout the book, Elise focuses on goal setting and making things happen – in a real and attainable way. Throughout, the book includes beautiful graphics, personal anecdotes, and tips to follow on exactly how to get started. I’m constantly inspired by Elise’s projects and how she takes her readers and followers into the process and the progress of each project. One of the biggest takeaways that I’m hoping to implement is to begin creating visual cues to show progress that will allow me to stay on track to meet bigger goals and deadlines.
I don’t think I’d ever be able to give Elise less than 5 stars. I love everything she does and this book is no different. The writing style and artwork is so “her”. If you’ve read her blog posts, listened to podcasts or followed her on Instagram the contents of the book might not be entirely new, however, having it all in one place will be handy. I definitely plan to reference it in the future!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We’re Having a Baby!

Kevin and I are excited to share some BIG NEWS…
Baby BOY Reape is due August 2021!
Kevin and I are over the moon excited to have this sweet babe joining our family – it still feels surreal typing these words. We’re currently 17 weeks and feeling pretty great, which has been a huge blessing. The last couple months have been filled with sleep, telling close family and friends, more sleep, pup snuggles, and lots of sour gummy worms. Did I mention sleep? There’s been a lot of that.
But in all seriousness, this space has been pretty empty. It’s difficult to write about goals and life without talking about this news, which we wanted to keep private until we were ready and had told family first. In preparation, to preserve memories for myself in this space, I’ve been writing posts and plan to “back date” them in the coming weeks. There’s plenty to say, and lots I want to remember because I know that time is fleeting – heck we’re already almost halfway.
