I have a lot to be thankful for.
This year, I was so thankful to be able to go home for five whole days to spend time with family. Last year, my job wasn’t as flexible and I had to fight to have holidays off because, as you know, Walgreens is open every single day of the year. Having that perspective this year really changed how I spent my time and made the conversations and memories that much more sweet. I snapped this photo while I was letting Chloe outside one night. I love the glow of the lights, the Christmas decor, and the family all gathered around the table. I can’t get over how much this time means to me.
I am also thankful for the time that I got to spend with Kevin’s family. I appreciate the way that they love me and the way that our families get along like they’ve known each other their whole lives. There is absolutely nothing like walking the Turkey Trot with Kevin’s Grandma and meeting both sides of the family at the finish line talking about what time we are getting together for Thanksgiving lunch that day. I pray that I never take this for granted. And of course, pie. What else do you spend the majority of your time baking for thanksgiving? Full credit to my mother-in-law for these beauties, but I did help by writing “thankful” with pie crust.
I am thankful for the model holding the pie. Boy, am I lucky to be married to my best friend. Here’s to one [crazy] busy holiday down and a million more to go!
I am thankful for Christmas card pictures and the smiling faces of my sweet cousins. It’s always hard to get everyone looking at the same camera, ya know? I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Don’t be a hater, but I’m thankful for some dang-good Black Friday deals while shopping on Friday. Later on, we watched Mizzou play and Chloe and I helped my mom put up the Christmas tree. Here’s Chloe’s contribution – right in the middle of everything.
She was willing to pose for another photo in front of the tree though! Love this pup and the joy she brings to our lives!
Of course, this is just a short list of the things in my life that I’m thankful for. I can’t get over the way that my perspective has changed, but I’m so happy to be taking full advantage of every single moment.
Oh how I love being home for the holidays.
